Sunbelt tested a number of new containers, tags, and products this year in an effort to offer more choices and explore ways to save future production and transportation costs. Please complete this brief survey as soon as you can — our spring review meeting has been bumped up to next week, the first week of June, and we also need time to compile the results! Holy Cow! So THANK YOU in advance for your feedback, and please call/email Bonnie or Shannon if you have any questions about this survey. New Products
1-qt Ultra All About Color
We produced the 1-qt Ultra Square All About Color Premium pots and tags to compare with 4.3" All About Color Premium pots and tags. Aside from the container size and shape differences, the tag on the 1-qt Ultra Square features the UPC code on the front of the locking, under-the-rim tag. A future benefit is more trays per shelf/cart, which lowers transportation costs per tray.
1-qt Hydrangea
This spring we trialed a quart-sized hydrangea, producing three different white varieties.
6.5" Ketchup and Fries
We produced a small number of this novelty item, which is a grafted cherry tomato on potato root stock. Shipped in branded packaging.
4.3" Wave Petunia
This year we offered Wave branded petunias in addition to Ramblin' petunias.
6" 6-pk Exotic Ferns
This season, we tried three varieties of "exotic" ferns. We sourced a limited number and they sold out quickly.
New Packaging
11" Hanging Basket w/plastic hanger
This season, we produced and shipped a few 11" monoculture baskets with plastic hangers, which is a potential cost savings. (No photo available.)
10" Macho Fern
In previous years, we offered Macho Ferns in hanging baskets. This year, we offered Machos in 10" grow pots. (No photo available.)
6.5" 6-pk Herb Combo & Salad Mix
We produced herb combos and salad mixes in a more cost-effective 6.5" 6-pk this year, versus the 7.5" pot last year.
3.5" Papa Joe's Vegetable Tag
The new Papa Joe's locking tag includes easier-to-read plant names and a bar code on the front for faster checkout.
